Das razões:“This decision is particularly meaningful given the title and framework of my Exhibition, focused as it is on artists who have traveled and migrated between North and South, Europe and beyond, and vice versa. In this sense, my choice rests upon two extraordinary, pioneering women artists who are also migrants and who embody in many ways the spirit of Stranieri Ovunque—Foreigners Everywhere: Anna Maria Maiolino (Scalea, Italy, 1942, lives in São Paulo, Brazil), who migrated from Italy to South America, first to Venezuela and later to Brazil, where she lives today; Nil Yalter (Cairo, Egypt, 1938, lives in Paris, France), a Turkish who migrated from Cairo to Istanbul and finally to Paris, where she is based.” -

33 female artists on the subject of female sexuality through our own eyes, giving it more of a humanized and less of an objectifying view of anything the artists focus on; our bodies, our experiences, how women navigate the world within the changes that occur constantly.

During the 60th Venice Biennale “Unapologetic WomXn: The Dream is the Truth,” curated by Destinee Ross-Sutton, NY & Stockholm, presents an international group exhibition, hosted by the European Culture Center at Palazzo Bembo, consisting of 33 female artists on the subject of female sexuality through their own eyes. It creates a humane and curated space of community where artists focus on communicating how women navigate the world within the changes that occur in it constantly and the importance of their artistic practice and art not conforming to the constraints of our societies. These artists break away from traditionally male-dominated societies that still impose an idea of what a woman should be.

The experience of being a woman is multifaceted; many X-factors determine what one’s experience as a woman will look like. From family and society, economic and socioeconomic factors, racial background, skin tone, zip codes, the beauty standards of one’s culture or the culture of the country you live in, politics, and laws that affect your womXnhood.
