«Building Peace»

«Artists from the Feminist Library’s Spanish Book and Writing Club have produced a beautiful bilingual English/Spanish 2026 wall calendar with the theme ‘Building Peace’. Drawings, paintings, photographs, collages and writings illustrate the months of the year.
We found the theme of Peace particularly important to look at this year. We have learned so much from looking at feminist archives, reading different theorists, and talking about collective and personal experiences».

We are delighted to share with you a series of interviews with feminist artists, creatives, writers and activists, created for the Feminist Library Youtube channel. We'd like to thank Shanelle Callaghan and the volunteers involved in this project.

In Episode 1 (above), Sánchez Benítez talks with The Feminist Library about the role tech companies play in oppressing systematically excluded communities, and how big tech contributes to the many crises we face today, most notably the climate crisis. She shares her vision for the future of AI and explains the urgent need to reimagine the use of technology for mutual, collective, and common enjoyment.

FEMINIST LIBRARY |«Queer Zine Dictionary»

«To celebrate Pride we are making available our wonderful Queer Dictionary Zine, available for the first time in printed form!

This new publication from the Feminist Library has contributions from over 40 artists exploring the idea of a ‘queer dictionary’ through original artworks and texts. Within these pages you’ll find illustrations, poetry, reclaimed words, but – most importantly – a space to exist within a queer, feminist family.

So, why a queer dictionary? As we know, language is important (fabulous). Language defines how we are categorised and treated by society, as constructed political beings. Language is slippery. It is reshaped over space and time as words and worlds evolve beyond their original conception. This reshaping is our power. We will continue to struggle and support each other as we strive to be defined how we choose, and we hope this (very queer) dictionary acts as a source of strength, reminding you (us) that we’re here together, as a queer community». «EM CADA ROSTO IGUALDADE»

No Em Cada Rosto Igualdade queremos, desde logo, juntar do que de bom e menos bom vai acontecendo à volta em torno da(s) igualdade(s), associar o disperso que nos chegue sobre problemas na esfera de género, feminismos, migrações, direitos humanos, pobreza, envelhecimento ativo, assédio, remunerações iguais para homens e mulheres, conciliação entre vida pessoal, familiar e profissional, cidadania, objetivos do desenvolvimento sustentável (ODS), direitos das crianças, violência doméstica … E não porque se defenda que estas matérias devam ser tratadas à parte, mas precisamente porque se deseja que estejam em toda a parte, e sejam preocupação de todos e todas e ocupem o ADN das organizações. A intenção é participar na divulgação e reflexão do que vai sendo institucionalizado, praticado e teorizado. Daremos enfoque às boas práticas que nos inspirem e mobilizem. E, neste século XXI, elegemos organizadores claros: o paradigma Desenvolvimento Sustentável (a Sustentabilidade, o Verde); e a força da CULTURA e das ARTES nas transformações que se ambicionam. Isto não começa agora, tem passado verificável no primeiro ciclo do Em Cada Rosto Igualdade que será sempre um capital de que partimos e a que se regressará como memória a valorizar.

EXCERTO: «(...)De qualquer forma, o que pretendo sublinhar é que as duas primeiras décadas deste século XXI nos trouxeram já matéria de sobra para reflexão urgente – reflexão por parte da comunidade internacional (e quem diz comunidade internacional, diz Estados, organizações internacionais como o as Nações Unidas e as suas agências e as organizações regionais, de que quero destacar a União Europeia e a NATO por nos serem especialmente próximas e pelo seu peso decisivo nas dinâmicas internacionais), mas também a nível das sociedades e do exercício da cidadania, ou seja por parte dos cidadãos, das organizações da sociedade civil, fundações, empresas, comunidade académica, associações e actores vários, etc. Há urgência em dar resposta aos desafios de longo prazo que são comuns a toda a humanidade, quer seja no plano das alterações climáticas, da revolução digital, dos desequilíbrios mundiais, das desigualdades ou da instabilidade e conflitualidade crescentes em certas regiões que ameaçam a paz global. Há pois urgência em forjar novos consensos para promover um processo de desenvolvimento sustentável, mais equitativo e mais solidário. Há ainda urgência em relançar a confiança na cooperação multilateral, nos processos de diálogo, mediação, concertação e negociação, na diplomacia preventiva. Há depois urgência em mobilizar mais esforços para uma actuação concertada, sobretudo em contexto humanitário. (...)».

«The theme celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is also aligned with the priority theme of the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, “Women's full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”, and the flagship Generation Equality campaign, which calls for women’s right to decision-making in all areas of life, equal pay, equal sharing of unpaid care and domestic work, an end all forms of violence against women and girls, and health-care services that respond to their needs.
