«A study found that women provide emotional support at home regardless of their demands at work. Men? Not so much».

Veja aqui

«Summary.

Researchers set out to answer the following question: How do demands and the amount of support received at work or at home affect the amount of support a person gives to their spouse or co-workers, and how does this in turn, affect the relationship of their larger family or team? Through two separate studies, they found a consistent pattern whereby men seem to reduce emotional support when demands in another role become too heavy. Women, on the other hand, provide emotional support regardless of their demands in another role, and they also “pass on” the support they receive in one role by giving more emotional support in another role, thereby boosting relationships. While spouses and co-workers do not always effectively support each other, and there is a substantial gender divide to bridge, men and women also expressed one remarkably similar need: to be heard by their spouse or co-workers. Active listening, then, is the first step forward — to not only make people feel supported when they vulnerably share the ups and downs of their lives, but also to bring couples and work teams closer together».

NA HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW SOBRE DESIGUALDADE SALARIAL E OS EFEITOS DE SE CONHECER QUANTO GANHAM OS COLEGAS | O artigo começa assim: «Pay inequality is common in most workplaces»

«Summary. Pay inequality is common in most workplaces. You get paid significantly more than your subordinates, your boss gets paid more than you, and your boss’s boss gets even more. At some point your employees have wondered about your salary – and their peers’. Should you be worried about that? Recent research sheds some light on this question. Researchers conducted an experiment with a sample of 2,060 employees from all rungs of a large commercial bank in Asia. They found that employees tended to underestimate the pay of their managers, but learning the actual amount led them to work harder. However, while people seemed to be fine with vertical inequality, they had more of a problem with horizontal inequality. Finding out peers get paid more had a negative effect on employees’ effort and performance». Saiba mais.

«Why Women Don’t Negotiate Their Job Offers»

Começa assim: «Research shows that women are more reticent than men to negotiate their salary offers. For instance, one study of graduating MBA students found that half of the men had negotiated their job offers as compared to only one eighth of the women. This general pattern has been replicated in survey studies of working adults and in laboratory experiments. It begs the question: Why? Is this a “confidence” problem? Is negotiation a skill for which men are simply better socialized than women? Why leave money on the table? (...)». Continue a ler.

«7 Leadership Lessons Men Can Learn from Women»

O artigo começa assim:
«Although there is a great deal of public interest in ensuring more women become leaders, thereby reversing their under-representation in the ranks of power, too many suggested solutions are founded on the misconception that women ought to emulate men. The thinking is: “If men have most of the top roles, they must be doing something right, so why not get women to act like them?”
But this logic fails to account for the relatively dismal performance of most leaders — who are overwhelmingly male. As we have argued before, the real problem is not a lack of competent females; it is too few obstacles for incompetent males, which explains the surplus of overconfident, narcissistic, and unethical people in charge. (...)». Continue a ler.
